The Nine Paths

One in a thousand. Not chosen. Simply refused to be six.

The nine-path wood comes from the same mountain tree as the six-path. Same density. Same cold thin air. But in one branch out of a thousand, the grain divides into nine natural ridges instead of six. We do not carve the extra three. We simply do not discard it.

• Shipping, tax & duty included. No additional fees.

• A practice glove, optional, for those who prefer it.

• The Thirty-Day Seal — thirty days, seal unbroken, everything you paid comes back.

• Arrives flawed? A new one leaves the bench. The first stays with you.

What it is

Each bead is shaped from six-path wood—a dense, slow-growing tree from the high mountain crevices of northern China. The six natural grooves are not carved. They are grown, year by year, in the cold thin air. The density is 0.75 g/cm³. Warm to the touch. Resistant to splitting.

But in one branch out of a thousand, the grain divides into nine natural ridges instead of six. Not carved. Not painted. A variation that happens in the dark, under snow, while the tree is still growing. We do not create this. We simply do not discard it.

The surface is left bare. No lacquer, no sealant, no artificial gloss. The nine ridges are wider, more complex, more demanding to polish. Forty days on the bench. Each ridge must be followed by hand, not flattened, not rounded, but brought to a surface that catches light without reflecting it.

What it becomes

The pale color you see now will not stay. Within weeks, the surface deepens. Within months, the matte shifts to satin. The color moves from pale gold to honey, then to amber.

Carried patiently, the wood can arrive at a state we call bolidi—the glass bottom. The nine ridges seem to float beneath a clear, warm surface. They catch light and hold it differently than six. More complex. More particular. More unmistakably yours.

The size

Twenty millimeters only. The nine-path branch is rarely wider than twenty to fifty millimeters. To preserve the integrity of all nine ridges, we cut only one bracelet from each suitable branch. A smaller bead would sacrifice the width of the grain. A larger bead would risk splitting the wood. Twenty millimeters is the balance.

Wrist up to 8.7" / 22cm. Heavy enough to settle the hand. The nine ridges are widest here, most visible, most distinct. This is the size that shows what the mountain spent fifteen years growing.

What arrives

  • One bracelet, 20mm, nine-path wood
  • A practice glove, optional, for those who prefer it
  • A companion guide to wearing and caring
  • A linen pouch for travel
  • A brand card with your first ritual

Because each piece is formed by nature, the exact depth and character of the nine ridges will differ. This is not variation in quality. This is the evidence that your bracelet was selected, not manufactured.

• Shipping included. • Tax and duty included. • No additional fees at delivery.

One last thing

It does not arrive finished. It arrives ready.

The grain deepens from pale gold to honey, then to amber. The surface learns to hold light. Carried with patience, it may grow translucent—what we call yuhua, jade-like. This is not the end of newness. This is the nine-path wood learning to shine with you.

The Thirty-Day Seal

Every MILORN piece arrives sealed with a one-time ring. While the seal holds, the piece is untouched — and returnable, for any reason, within thirty days of delivery. Return postage is yours; everything you paid comes back.

If a piece arrives flawed — cracked, misshapen, damaged by the journey — photograph it and write to us. A new one leaves the bench, selected by the same hand. The first stays with you; nothing comes back.

Once the seal is broken, the piece has begun its life with you. Orders placed November 15 – December 24 carry an extended seal, returnable through January 15. The full promise lives on the Care page.
